Cape-Able Canines

Cape-Able Canines is a full service dog training, doggy day care and luxury dog boarding facility conveniently located near the 8 and 125 freeways in La Mesa, California. We serve the greater San Diego and East County areas. Cape-Able Canines will not train your dog for you; we will train YOU to train your dog. We use gentle lure and positive reinforcement methods combined with effective correction; we place a special emphasis on socialization. Learning is a lifelong process - for people and dogs. Unlike other boarding facilities, our guest dogs sleep in an apartment setting with one of our staff, in a bed, dog bed, crate or on our couch. Because guest dogs are in an apartment setting, they are kept comfortable with temperature controls, including air conditioning or a fireplace, depending on the weather. Guest dogs truly become “one of our family” watching tv, listening to music or enjoying family barbeques! Is your dog a "stay at home" dog? Is he bored and destructive while you are away? Bring your dog to supervised play in our 8100 square feet of grass. Extended hours are available! Drop off as early as 6:30 AM and pick up as late as 7:00 PM, Tuesday through Friday (rain or shine). Cape-Able Canines uses positive reinforcement, lure based training and stresses early socialization and good dog manners. Our trainers are certified AKC Canine Good Citizen and STAR puppy evaluators and members of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. We offer all levels of training from puppy to advanced obedience, speciality classes such as intro to agility and rally, specialty workshops, problem behavior consultations, and fun special events, all intended to improve dog/owner communication.

Love, love, love this place. They love your pet at a different level. Their training and socialization classes are a blast. Their daycare includes great play for the dogs, and they provide washing services to boot. They also provide boarding that's in an apartment settings...like home away from home...and includes daycare. We love our dog (of course) and couldn't bear to think of her in a cage/kennel while we're away.

Have 'run' four puppies thru doghood thru Cape Able Canine's courses over 30 years and landed with safe, well behaved citizens each time. Classes are fun, expertly delivered and affordable. Cannot recommend highly enough. Many referrals.

I’ve only gone for the training but I really love this place. My dog is a bit leash reactive, but with their group classes I was able to slowly get him comfortable to exist around other dogs. Very knowledgeable and I love that they lead by example with their own dogs.

I have attended two separate training courses at Cape-Able-Canines, "S.t.a.r. Puppy" and "Basic Obedience". The knowledge I have gained has helped me understand my puppy's behavior and more importantly the affect my behavior has on my puppy. They also offer daycare and boarding which I plan to utilize as needed. I could go on and on but I will stop with "excellent".
